"McDougall United Church is a dynamic and caring, all inclusive Christian Spiritual Community in the heart of downtown Edmonton"
WELCOME
Welcome to McDougall United Church, "In the Heart of the City." We are a church with lots of history and heritage.
More than a wonderful historic treasure, today McDougall is a spiritually alive, diverse, inclusive Christian community moving into the future. We cherish our heritage but are committed to being the Church in a new way for a new century.
McDougall is the original and oldest Protestant congregation in
Alberta. Our first church building was built in 1873, and the current sanctuary was built in 1910 and seated 2,000 people. That was when
Edmonton had a population of 20,000 and the church was the crossroads of the community.
Today, as a downtown church, we are a diverse, inclusive community of people. That is part of our uniqueness.
McDougall seeks:
- to bridge the gulf separating spirituality with institutional religion
- to encourage everyone's spiritual journey
- to be a spiritual oasis for renewal
- to worship God to find comfort, connection, healing, inspiration, challenge and motivation
We invite you to check us out to determine if we might be the spiritual community you are looking for.
