McDougall United Church is the original and oldest Protestant congregation in Alberta. Our first church building was built in 1873 for Rev. George M. McDougall and his wife Elizabeth at a cost of $1,200.
Along with the manse, they were the first buildings outside the walls of the Fort. The Church was eventually moved to Fort Edmonton Park in 1978.
In 1892, another structure was buiolt until it, too, was moved in 1909.
In 1910, the current sanctuary, which we are celebrating this year, was built at a cost of $70,000 with a capacity of 1,600, when Edmonton had a population of 20,000 and the church was the crossroads of the community.

OUR MISSION To provide the opportunity for Christian Education to every child/youth who comes to McDougall Church Sunday School. To provide spiritual and emotional growth in a safe and caring environment, suitable to their age.
ABOUT US McDougall Church provides a safe, caring environment for children ages three to grade six. Children gather at the back of the sanctuary (back left corner) with their teachers at 10:30 a.m. They come forward as a group at the beginning of the service to light the worship candles, share in the first part of the service, and have a children's story. They then go downstairs for an open session of singing and to their respective class group.
Please ask an usher to direct you and your children to the Sunday School gathering place each Sunday.
The last day of Sunday School for the season will be Sunday, May 30 when we have a Celebrtion of Youth service at 10:30 a.m. We will be honouring the children and thanking the leaders for the commitment throughout the year.

MCCAULEY SCHOOL MINISTRY
McDougall United Church has partnered with McCauley School since 2007 to provide support to the students and staff at this high needs inner city school.
We have provided a hot Christmas lunch each year for students and staff with volunteers from McDougall, catered by Kids in the Hall, and with huge and generous support from one our donors.
On an ongoing basis, volunteers read with children, provide library support, knit warm wollies. An artist in our congregation shares in the artist in residence program.
For the past two years, McDougall has provided financial support to students and their families for the Annual Grad Night in the spring, so that all may attend this milestone and celebration in the students' lives.
We are concerned about the future of McCauley School at this time of proposed school closures, but will continue to support children in need wherever they may be.
